Gerry Price was born in Winnipeg and holds a B.Sc. and a M.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manitoba as well as a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics from Lehigh University in Pennsylvania.
Following graduate studies, he worked as a Defense Scientific Services Officer for the Defense Research Board in Alberta, then joined E.H. Price Limited (now Price Industries Limited) in 1977. In 1986, he became President of Price Industries following their start up in Asia Pacific, and began to lay the foundation for their expansion into the US market. During his tenure he has launched many new product lines, factory expansions and new business units in Canada and the US, and has grown the company to 15 times the size, scope and reach it was when he became President.
The Price Group comprises 7 companies, had sales in 2017 of $582 million, and operates 13 factories, seven in Canada and six in the US, totaling 1,397,000 sq. ft. Manufactured products range from HVAC mechanical products to transit windows, aluminum extrusions and other industrial products. The company’s workforce numbered roughly 3,000 employees in 2017, 52% in the US and 48% in Canada, with 1,059 in Winnipeg, MB.
